I am a former stay-at-home mom of 3 daughters - Laura, Sarah & Kelly - who have all left the nest. I have been happily married to the love of my life, Mark since 1980. Except for the usual bumps in the road that life gives you, the years have passed by with relatively great ease. Then, in September 2008, through a routine mammogram, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer.
Thus began a journey that included more doctor visits than you can imagine, four different surgeries, and a year of treatment. Amongst the discomfort & hardship, my journey also provided many blessings through the people that I met and the opportunities that came my way.

It is my hope that This Home Plate will be a place for you to find some inspirational stories from my friends - both old & new - in addition to my own story. When breaking news in Cancer World arises, I will share it with you. This blog will also be a place for me to "dish up" some of my favorite recipes (hopefully most will be healthy!!), my love for anything crafty, my hobbies of photography, travel, gardening, etc., as well as tales of my biking adventures. Last but not least this blog is a way for me to share my passion for something very near & dear to my heart, the Texas Mamma Jamma Ride.

Please feel free to share your stories with me. You can always e-mail me here - thishomeplate@gmail.com
